Igbo Body Parts of the human body
in Igbo Language

Listed below are the Igbo language names for the parts of the human body.

To be honest, a serious attempt has not been made to find Igbo words for those English medical terminologies except for the most elementary parts of the human body.

Infact many medical terms have no Igbo body parts words. It is not difficult to see why there are no Igbo body parts words for most of the internal parts of the human body.

Man and woman names only what (s)he knows. Many parts of the igbo body are not visible to the naked eye.

Our forefathers had no microscopes, could not therefore see them (Igbo body parts), and so did not know that they existed. The main Igbo body parts of the human body are:-

  • Intergumentary System
  • Head and Neck
  • Chest
  • Upper Extremity
  • Trunk
  • Pelvis
